This corner of my site is a deadly combination of mix tape obsession and growing old with the twisted nostalgia that grows from underneath like weeds. In some of my zines in the past, I’ve made a decade by decade list of selective albums (and the rare singles) that I still like, much less tolerate, from the mainstream that added the wallpaper to my background while aimlessly growing up. The mainstream jazz seemed to fade off as the decades and mix tapes wore on.
THE LOST DECADE title was taken from a cover story from the late lamented freebie BAM (‘Bay Area Music’) magazine from, I think, 1989 about the forthcoming 70’s avalanche that was about to flood the 90’s and this prompted me to use this to start making my own 70’s mix tape project that started of from 10 cassette tapes to, as of 2021, 23 CD-R’s. I’m not even going to tell you WHAT’S in this damned bloated whale, it was bad enough with the years of editing, format changes and the emotion carnage.
Basically, why should I let K-Tel Records, Rhino, VH-1 and Casey Kasem dictate to me what MY BGM ought to be!!
I’m used this umbrella an excuse to include the other decades I survived like the 80’s (THE SAY WHAT?! DECADE), the 90’s (THE END TIMES) and all the following resent pasts (AFTERMATH!).
I suffered for my tendinitis and now it’s your turn,
